• Porsche 997 GT3 RS 3.8 liter versus GT3 RS 4.0 on the dyno - 419 vs. 457 rear wheel hp + highest specific output list

      We bow down in respect to Porsche. This is some of the most impressive factory stock specific output we have ever seen. To hit over 100 wheel horsepower (not crank horsepower) per liter is a feat we have not seen many factory stock motors over 4.0 liters accomplish with the F430 Scuderia being the only other one in recent memory with 459 wheel from its 4.3 liter. 457 wheel horsepower in STD correction from a 4.0 liter flat-6 is absolutely absurd and this is by far the most powerful production naturally aspirated six cylinder the world has ever seen.

      The 997 GT3 RS 3.8 hits 116.38 wheel horsepower per liter. The 4.0 hits 114.25 wheel horsepower per liter. The F430 Scuderia is at 106 wheel per liter. The GT3 RS is rated at 125 crank horsepower per liter but that crank ratings even looks conservative to us.

      How about that the GT3 RS 4.0 is making just over 100 horsepower at the wheels more than an E92 M3 4.0 liter V8? Same displacement, two less cylinders, and 100 more at the wheels. Ladies and gentlemen, that is some of the most impressive engine building the world has ever seen from a production naturally aspirated six cylinder motor. Porsche squeezed out a ridiculous amount of power and 4.0 owners are certainly getting their monies worth. We do not have enough superlatives to bestow on Porsche, phenomenal.

        oh, I dont know much about std and sae. For some reason on the forum they were asking for SAE and someone said they were both uncorrected.


        All I know is 457 rwhp is solid for 500 crank, as well as 419 for 450 crank

        457 out of that motor is absurd.

        The 458 V8 is absurb as well. 562hp out of a 4.5L NA motor, good sh*t.

        When you look at the 458's rwhp it doesn't make any more power than the GT3 4.0 RS. That is a BIG deal.

        Has there been anymore dynos of the 458 besides that one from Fabspeed.

        Nope. But i think it should put down more than 450whp that fabspeed showed. F430 puts down around 400whp, 458 should make around 470-80whp.

        The F430 puts down more than 400 whp and the Scuderia puts down more than this 458 dyno.

        A buddy of mine got a GT3 over Christmas and took me for a ride last week. He has had it out to a few track days at Sebring and is feeling pretty confident, but I have to admit that car works very well. His intent was to impress me, and the car did a pretty good job. With the Michelin Cup tires that car sticks like glue and he was not afraid to throw the car into the turns at all. The engine is really strong and the gearbox allows you to keep the revs right where the engine wants to be. Add to that brakes that are ready to throw you through the windshield and it is quite the carnival ride.

        What about a centri blower on it? Imagine, would make the E46 M3 look like junk. E92 M3 too.

        Yep. What comp ratio? Even 6psi would be nice....

        I always imagine twin-turbo GT3s.... or a GT2 RS with a better/high-revving valve-train....

        Hello everyone, long time.
        The 4.0 RS is one impressive car. It has incredible grunt for an NA motor and of course all the motorsport characteristics of the GT3RS.

        Now stay tuned for upcoming developments on a "covert" engine build. This time it will be done by a reputable company with proven results, capabilities and know how :-)
        Many total car components are being address in the entire project, ie. gearbox, diff, suspension, brakes, body panels (goal ~ 2,800 lbs) and of course a bore & stroke engine build.
        This is gonna be fun!
