    • Porsche 911 GT3 RS and 991.1 Turbo S laptime comparison by EVO

We saw the GT3 RS get compared to the Turbo S previously as Road and Track did a test in December. That test featured the new 991.2 Turbo S whereas this EVO test features the older and slightly less powerful 991.1 Turbo S. Additionally, Road and Track omitted a roadcourse comparison.

So how does the lighter track special naturally aspirated and rear wheel drive GT3 RS compare to the heavier all wheel drive 991.1 Turbo S around the track? They are dead even at 1:13.6

The track is fairly short and tight so the Turbo S can use its torque out of corners but the GT3 RS looks like it goes deeper into those corners.

This is basically a sledgehammer vs. a scalpel and both are equally effective in this application.

I think you mean EVO and less powerful 991.1, correct?

In addition to its track prowess, the 991 turbo is such a bonkers car in a straight line, 9 sec 1/4 mile from tune+boltons. Plus working on the car seems to be rather straight forward you could even use a portable lift that lifts from the middle of the chassis because all of your work is out back!

Nope, not the 991.1. Close though.
