    • Introducing Project 991.2 - Who needs a 911 Turbo?

      The new PorscheBoost and BoostAddict project car is finally here. Say hello to this 2017 Porsche 911 Carrera. In other words, the new 991.2 generation with the B6 twin turbo 3.0 liter motor.

      The car has all the goodies including Sport Chrono, PDK, and the Sport Exhaust. The goal will be to produce 911 Turbo S humbling performance at a fraction of the cost in a lighter package. Think of it as building your own GT2.

      PorscheBoost already reached out to several tuners/vendors including:

      Fabspeed
      @COBB Tuning
      GIAC
      BMS
      IPD
      @VF-Engineering
      @Pure Turbos

      This should be a very fun project.

      Apologies for the poor photography as the sun made things difficult. Expect better photo shoots as things progress.

        I love it! Congrats on the purchase. Do you plan on getting baseline numbers and times?

        It was inevitable. Have you talked to BMW people on forums? Makes you want to get into a Porsche as fast as humanly possible.

        But seriously, the car is amazing. I'm getting used to the rear engine layout and if I could do it over I probably would opt for all wheel drive for more weight on the nose for confident steering feel. It's just a little odd getting used to having so little weight on the front.

        It still inspires confidence and the chassis is VERY communicative but it's different than I expected. I definitely have more confidence getting on the gas coming out of a corner.

        The mid-range punch is pretty damn impressive too. The throttle response isn't M like especially down low so I have to keep the revs up a bit. There is lag but only if you try to give it gas in a high gear low in the rev range. It actually does a pretty good job mimicking an NA motor.

        I love the car already.

        I'm already reaching out to tuners man. Cobb told me no ETA and GIAC is still working on theirs.

        Hopefully we can get something soon. Not only for the power, but I'm ready to get after the rest of the exhaust. I just can't have a CEL looking at me in this car. I wasn't paying much attention to mileage, but after a few road trips I noticed I already have 8,900 miles on mine! Love driving this car.

        From what I read only going catless causes a CEL. The sport cats out there don't trigger it.

        The Fabspeed headers are probably a must. I'm talking to them already. The car has been stock almost a day, that's long enough.

        Yeah thats what they say, but they cant guarantee it. But you're right - Headers with the sport cat mid pipes would be perfect. When you get under the car you can clearly see how restrictive the stock headers/Cats are. The more I see the new PSE pipes from the rear the more I like them. I'm seriously considering replacing mine with the PSE and adding the rest of the Fabspeed stuff.

        I just ask my daughter to sit in front when I need more weight lol

        Joking aside, handling is totally different from Bavarian boys for sure. I thought the torque is pretty decent down low coming from F82, not as feeling your neck snapping back but smooth out. Too bad that i can't daily this thing (very rough road coming in in the morning). I try to drive the heck out of it on the weekends though...

        There are two volunteers that I need to bring in: newer PCM software and new parts for air lift. Prolly do it the week before spring break.

        My first mod would prolly be this one.....

        So you have the standard and not PSE? Yeah, you can replace it but do you want the cost? The PSE is like $4k after the fact.

        I got the standard because at the time I hated the look of the PSE. I then added the Fabspeed rear section the week after I bought it. Yeah a few weeks ago I got a quote for the parts from Suncoast, then a quote from the dealer to install it. Pricey for sure but I still may do it. Hell after I add the rest of the Fabspeed stuff I'd be looking at 10 grand just for the exhaust. Just a commission check or two.....

        Hated it too but then it grew on me. Just having the valved ability to quiet it is big.
