    • Official - The Porsche 911 GT2 RS breaks the Nurburgring record with 6:47.3 laptime

How about that? After the 'guess' that was reported as the 2018 911 GT2 RS Nurburgring laptime the actual laptime comes in even quicker. A 6 minute and 47.3 second time tops the controversial Lamborghini Huracan Performante's 6:52.01.

That means we have a new production car champion. It is a stunningly fast time and to put it in perspective it is only four seconds off the McLaren P1 LM time of 6:43.2. The P1 LM is not a street legal car and essentially a P1 GTR with some modifications.

That means the street legal GT2 RS is capable of running with multi-million dollar race cars at a fraction of the cost.

Whatever Voodoo Porsche worked to get the GT2 RS to perform like this deserves all the praise in the world.

Driver looked super relaxed through that entire lap. Not even once did the car get out of shape. Just total insanity. So much for the “Widow Maker” reputation of old.

What kind of magic is at play here to allow a RWD car to be so fast and composed? Any links to the full specs - torque vectoring, traction control, active aero etc?

when is the 720S going to take a crack at the ‘Ring I wonder....

I'm curious how it will do as well. Also about the higher performance versions that will come out next... nobody is going to touch McLaren.
