    • Let the Porsche 718 Boxster & Cayman tuning commence! Mcchip-DKR Stage I 718 Cayman S 9A2B4 ECU software results

Somewhat glossed over in the news that the 991.2 SDI21 ECU was cracked is that this led to ECU tuning also opening up for the 9A2B4 2.0 and 2.5 motors in the Porsche 718 models.

What kind of power are we looking at for a Stage I tune for a 718 Boxster or Cayman S? Roughly 430 horsepower at the crank:

An increase of 80 horsepower but that torque curve is questionable. Why it is spooling later tuned is anyone's guess but there is a ton more area under the curve from 3000 rpm until redline.

How does this stack up to say a tuned 991.2 Carrera GTS? The tuned 718 S makes roughly 100 less horsepower. Another way to look at it is making almost stock 991.2 GTS horsepower. That should result in slightly over 400 rwhp on a Dynojet.

That makes for quite a Porsche performance bargain and the 718 GTS model with its larger turbo will make even more power when tuned.

It is a good time to be a Porsche enthusiast at any area of the model spectrum.

This car should rip if it's making 911 gts power with a tune. I'd think mid 120 traps should be in reach, tune only.

That would be my guess as well but that would actually be faster than a 991.2 Carrera with a tune.

I need to see some graphs of a tuned 991.2 base from these guys.

The more I think about it the more I think 125 is too high. 122 maybe?

Isn't the gts already trapping low 120s? I'd think the weight difference has to be worth a few mph.

As the Carrera S does 120 I'd expect 122-123 for the GTS.

The weight certainly is an important factor but it has to have less torque through the curve too.

We shall see, but the aftermarket torque curves are generally much fatter in the mid-range than an oem turbo tune. I'd think the 718 might be lacking up top, if anywhere.

Does that late torque mean lagging down low? All the way to 3k is not fun...or maybe more fun when it will kick in depending how one looks at it.

        There shouldn't be more lag...

They're too busy jerking off to exhaust noises to notice what is really going on in the Porsche world.

The people sharing the best Porsche knowledge are always middle-aged guys in 991.1 cabriolets for some reason.
