    • More evidence of a GT3 4.0 flat-6 derivative going into the 718 Boxster/Cayman - 2018 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 spyphotos

A little over a week ago PorscheBoost published an article with spyphotos of the upcoming 718 Cayman Spyder. The hot rumor is that Porsche will give this model naturally aspirated flat-6 power. That pretty much means it has to be a derivative of the 991.1 GT3 4.0 liter engine.

What other flat-6 could it be? They will not do a turbo flat-6 motor stating it will not fit with the required cooling and the only naturally aspirated flat-6 they produce these days is for the GT3. If the car gets a naturally aspirated flat-6, it has to be the GT3 mill.

The UK's Carmagazine believes that is exactly what will happen with a 400+ horsepower unit in the 718 Cayman GT4.

Are they correct? We will see but the evidence is mounting that a naturally aspirated flat-6 will find its way into the 718 chassis.
