    • Preliminary Gintani 2017 911 Carrera (991.2 3.0) race gas (VP 110) tune results - 442 whp

Gintani continues to tune the PorscheBoost.com Project 991.2 911 Carrera and now has the car over 440 wheel horsepower on their Mustang dyno. Compare the race gas figures you see in the graph below to the preliminary 91 octane pump gas tune only numbers.

The car has Soul Performance cat bypass pipes on it now but a dyno overlay of just the pipes will come in a subsequent article.

For now they are still working on the race gas tune and they got the car over 450 whp but are still tweaking various aspects.

You will notice a bit of torque was lost down low but this is a trade off for top end gains.

Essentially, we are at another 22 wheel horsepower. There is also a nice mid-range gain from 4750 rpm to 6000 rpm.

Past 6500 rpm the turbochargers just run out of steam. 991.2 Carrera S turbos might provide another 20 whp or so but 991.2 GTS turbos would really give a nice bump up top.

It looks like it is time for a turbo upgrade.

For context, 440 wheel horsepower on a Mustang dyno is roughly stock Porsche 991.1 Turbo S power:

Doesn't this car have the IPD plenum on it and weren't they in place for the 91 octane "tune only" numbers?

Yes, it does. I guess I thought everyone just knew? Maybe I'll edit that in.

Either way, I'd love to see what it would run at these power levels. Great power for such minimal work. Any stock S or GTS numbers on the same Dyno?

Unfortunately, no. It's a real bummer. Some people are struggling to comprehend the gains and I'm just amazed people do not get this is nothing new for turbocharged Porsche's.

We need to get an overlay with an S or GTS to really hammer this home. Plus then do a side by side pull.

Also, Gintani is playing with the cams now. We'll see what they come up with but basically now we're just squeezing out whatever is left.

I *may* have a chance to run some S turbos on the car.

Dam that’s awesome! Can Gintani kill the CEL for those bypass pipes?

Congrats man! I would just leave the stock turbos and enjoy it. But definitely that's the wrong forum lol

Click here to enlarge no man, 991.1 left in the dust at this point, no reason to even mention that model....

I heard a rumor that even the new new 992 GT3 is going to be a turbo engine!!! WAT! I heard a slightly enhanced version of the GTS engine in a new lightweight better handling GT3 chassis.

One of the reasons I was told was that the GT3 USED to be the pinnacle but now its the GT3RS so the RS will keep the NA engine tech and the GT3 will go Turbo.....

When you look at how great the 991.2 GTS is and how "close" it is to the GT3, even on the track, it slightly becomes believable that Porsche would combine the best of both and make a killer turbo track car.

Oh I know on stock turbos it's pretty much perfect around town but I want that nasty top end punch to take down whatever I may encounter Click here to enlarge Plus for foll on events and so forth.

I should in theory be able to take a GT2 RS when the turbo upgrade is done and that's just Stage I. We'll see Click here to enlarge

I wonder if those idiots are even going to realize how wrong they were?

'My 991.1 Carrera S is too fast as is who needs more power?' STFU old man. Go listen to your exhaust.

I doubt this. If they produce an NA GT3 RS the GT3 will be NA too.

Have you ever listened to a 991.1 though? Oh man, the noises make you forget all about how absurdly slow it is.

They're still tuning race gas as they had a few gallons left from what I understand.

Also, I was planning on testing out S turbos to see the difference they make (plus just would make for awesome data) but they haven't come in.

I may go straight to a Stage I hybrid upgrade.
