Misha Designs has released a new body kit for the 997 generation Porsche 911 called the GTM2. The car below wearing the kit is a 997.2 Carrera S but the body kit is available for all 997 Carrera models. The front of the kit leaves a gap in the front bumper by the bonnet mimicking a sort of GT3 style with the entire front bumper offering large and aggressive air duct openings. Speaking of the bonnet a new vented hood which looks good is part of the package. ...Published on 04-03-2013 12:51 PM
Well the facelift for the Panamera is officially here and just as PorscheBoost reported previously the Panamera S and Panamera 4S get a very exciting new motor. The new 3.0 liter turbo V6 gives a 20 horsepower boost on the previous 4.8 liter naturally aspirated V8 for a total of 420 horsepower. Torque also rises 15 pound-feet for a total of 383 pound-feet of torque. The Panamera S and 4S just got very, very exciting. ...Published on 04-02-2013 03:12 PM
Wow, major achievement here and quite an improvement on what this car was doing previously which already was incredibly impressive. This vehicle previously hit 10.3@133 on stock turbos with full weight. Champion Motorsport gave the car some stickier rubber and the time improved quite a bit. How does [email]9.837@135 sound? On the stock turbos? With a full weight car? Well, to PorscheBoost that sounds absolutely incredible. ...Published on 04-01-2013 02:40 PM
Well here is an early gift, the upcoming 2014 Porsche 991 Turbo captured completely undisguised with no camouflaging body pieces. The car is not set to officially debut until the Frankfurt Auto show in September of this year but the car looks completely production ready here. Porsche is likely just waiting for the next big show for the official debut and wants to do it on their home turf in Germany considering what an important model this is. ...Introducing the new Porsche 991 RSR racecar - Pictures, specs, video, press release, and awesomeness

Here is the updated Porsche 911 RSR based on the 991 generation. The car quite simply looks beautiful and like one should move out of its way. The car is larger than the predecessor although the new roof and shape gives it a lower center of gravity. Weight distribution is also improved with more weight on the front and less on the back thanks partially to the engine placement moved further up. Carbon fiber is everywhere from the wheel arches, doors, wing, boot lid, center console, etc. ...Published on 03-29-2013 10:40 AM
Is this the Porsche Macan? A very good question and hard to deny the picture looks authentic and follows the design the latest spyphotos were pointing towards. The front of the car has the exact same LED placement that the spy photos showed as well as the shape of the headlights. The front bumper is also the exact same. Unfortunately, it seems only a shot of the front of the Macan was leaked and there is no leaked rear photo. ...Published on 03-27-2013 09:41 PM
The TPC Racing turbo kit is a very popular upgrade for the Boxster and Cayman. It's really the main forced induction kit out there and offers large gains. Well, for one owner the standard power wasn't enough. With just the TPC turbo kit the 987.2 Boxster will put out in the 415 horsepower to the wheel range. With meth injection, TPC was able to boost output into the 470 wheel horsepower range. Then on top of this a 40 shot of nitrous was added. ...Published on 03-26-2013 01:22 AM
Very nice results here from AWE-Tuning with their 650S upgrade package for the 997.1 Porsche 911 Turbo. The package consists of a larger throttle body, AWE-Tuning intercoolers, AWE-Tuning headers, AWE-Tuing muffler, and GIAC software. On 93 octane with just the muffler the 2007 911 turbo hit 473 horsepower at all four wheels on the AWE-Tuning Mustang dyno. That is a healthy baseline with a muffler so this is not a pessimistic Mustang dyno. ...Published on 03-21-2013 10:11 PM
Just in case for some reason you were not yet impressed with the new 9000 RPM, 3.8 liter, 475 horsepower, PDK equipped 991 GT3 the Hockenheim laptime results should be all that is necessary to sway you. How quick did it lap? 1:08.0. To put that in perspective the laptime is faster than the 997 GT2 RS, Ferrari 458 Italia, Lamborghini Aventador, McLaren MP4-12C, Porsche 997.2 GT3 RS 4.0, and the Corvette ZR1. ...Published on 03-19-2013 11:40 PM
Well the price tag for the Nurburgring, arguably the most famous circuit in the world today and used as a measuring stick for manufacturers, is up for sale for a price of $165 million. The track was announced as being bankrupt in August of last year. The EU (European Union) is simply not willing to pony up any funds with all their financial issues so somebody needs to step in or we lose the equivalent of automotive Mecca. ...Published on 03-15-2013 06:30 PM
Wow, WOW! 10.3@133 on stock turbos? Yep, that just happpened. Congratulations to GIAC who was able to help set the new 997 Turbo stock turbocharger 1/4 mile record with this Porsche 997.2 Turbo S with has the PDK transmission. And this was done in Florida at Palm Beach International Raceway which is not the quickest track due to the humid Florida weather. Conditions were not ideal but not poor either with DA falling at 6 pm putting the density altitude for these runs from ~835 - ~600 feet above sea level. ...Published on 03-13-2013 10:30 AM
Some very impressive results here on a ProEFI standalone equipped 996 Turbo with the Saad Racing Turbo kit. At just 13 psi of boost on the stock internals the car put down 618 horsepower to the wheels and 597 rear wheel torque on a relatively mild tune. This is also with the stock airbox which they are planning to replace. At only 13 psi of boost it is safe to say there is a lot more power in this setup especially with race gas, an aggressive tune, and higher boost. ...Published on 03-12-2013 03:30 PM
Here is yet another 991 GT3 video and PorscheBoost is not complaining. This particular video details Andreas Preuninger (head of Porsche GT car development aka Mr. GT3) discussing the features of the car at Geneva during its debut. He states the development project and budget was four times larger than any of the previous GT3 cars. Also that the new PDK gearbox allows one as much control as a traditional manual transmission allows. ...Published on 03-07-2013 11:00 PM
Porsche neuters the Boxster. Say what you want about how great the 911 is but Porsche protects their icon at the expense of Boxster and Cayman. There really is no reason a Boxster can not have more power than it does other than the fact it would stomp the equivalent 911, say the Carrera, hard. The proof is in the Cayman having the exact same 3.4 liter motor as the 991 Carrera but detuned specifically to protect the 911 (and its owner's ego). ...Published on 03-05-2013 05:30 PM
Great interview here done by EVO Magazine with the head of the Porsche GT car development Andreas Preuninger. The new PDK transmission going into the 991 GT3 dominates the discussion. It is interesting to see just how much thought Porsche put into whether or not to give the GT3 the 7-speed PDK transmission for a car that is supposed to offer the most pure Porsche 911 driving experience. The debate raged for a year on whether or not to do it. ...Published on 03-04-2013 04:00 PM
Here it is at last, the king of the naturally aspirated race bred 911 crop. Yes, the brand spanking new 2014 991 GT3. As previously reported the PDK and 9000 RPM info was on the money. Horsepower is slightly more than expected out of the new 3.8 liter motor with 475 horsepower. Porsche claims with the PDK transmission and new found power compared to the 997.2 GT3 which also had a 3.8 liter flat-6 but with 435 horses that the new 991 GT3 is an incredible 6/10's quicker 0-60. ...Published on 03-04-2013 02:55 AM
A drag race between these two rear wheel drive cars in the wet just seems kind of dumb as well as dangerous. The both really need a dry launch to show what they are capable of. Regardless, the weather is what it is and it's nice to see the new F13 M6 in action against a rare car like the 997 GT3 RS 4.0. The Porsche is able to eek out a slight lead despite feathering the throttle (likely thanks to its significant weight advantage of almost 1000 pounds). ...Published on 03-01-2013 04:41 PM
The Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0 is no slouch. The 4.0 liter flat-6 puts out an absolutely incredible 457 wheel horsepower stock and does so naturally aspirated as in no forced induction. The Nissan GTR of course having two turbos on its 3.8 liter V6. On paper with the GT3 RS 4.0's weight advantage of just over 800 pounds should make this an interesting race despite the torque advantage of the GTR as well as its quick shifting dual clutch transmission. ...Published on 02-28-2013 11:20 PM
This recall affects 2012-2013 Porsche 991 generation 911 models but only those built from March 7, 2012 until November 12, 2012. If you own a 2012-2013 991 please call your dealer immediately to see if you are affected. The exhaust pipe issue is that the piping will fail or fracture causing the pipes to separate from the muffler. You can see how this can be a major safety issue not just for owners but for others on the road if this were to happen at high speed. ...Published on 02-22-2013 01:21 AM
Interesting comparison here by Sport Auto between the 991 Carrera S which is rear wheel drive and the 991 Carrera 4S which is all wheel drive. Both cars have the same 3.8 liter flat-6 engine with 400 horsepower. The test cars are both manual so it is interesting to see how the addition of all wheel drive changes things. The difference in weight between the two cars just 29 kilograms (just 63 pounds) which really is not much additional weight at all. ...
