WOW. Didnt see that coming. No matter what, kill is a kill. Weight difference could be the factor in this race.

Sounds like the gt500 has an exhaust (doesn't do much), and definitely some gears. I'm actually slightly impressed by the gt500. I thought the m5 would have pulled it.

Exhaust maybe so... Gears are not a common add on GT500's they dont need them unless you're a hardcore drag racer and even then not so much.

hmmm I remember the gearing in the GT500's being longer than that. I guess it also depends what packages the car had.

The stock GT500 record is supposedly around the 11.2@123mph area. This one doesn't sound stock. Nice shifting, and looked like lots of wheelspin from the M5

    Hey Guys,

New member here. I was pointed to this thread by someone who messaged me through my YouTube account. My friend and I are the owners of the 2 cars in the video, the Shelby is mine.
My friend picked up his M5 about a month ago, and he is still trying to figure out all the "Modes" that it has, so I believe once he gets them dialed in, we will re-run. I believe the outcome will be in his favor. As for my car, it is completely stock, down to the factory air filter. I have an external microphone mounted underneath the car, in between the mufflers, so that's why in the video, that is all you hear. I hate the sound you get from a GoPro with the factory microphone.

I was expecting to get walked on, and I was surprised by the outcome, but like I said, once he figures everything out with his M5, the outcome will be different.

Anyway, thanks for the comments about my shifting, I am still getting used to this clutch, and told some of my friends that I needed to work at it.

Thanks again!

    Bill

Stock 2011 Ford Mustang Cobra GT500 versus stock 2013 F10 BMW M5 roll on race - Mustang wins?

The GT500 is an awesome car putting out a ton of power especially in its latest 2013 iteration. The model you see however is a 2011 that is said to be completely stock. On paper, the F10 M5 should have the advantage in this race as it is about a ~120 mile per hour trap car stock versus about ~116 for the 2011 GT500. The result of the two races in the video at the 1:20 and 2:20 mark are that the GT500 pulls the M5, somewhat too easily.

The owner of the GT500 posted on the forums saying his car is stock and that the F10 M5 belongs to his friend who is still figuring out the various shift modes. It's honestly pretty simple, put it in the highest shift mode and then push it to the right for automatic mode which will execute a perfect shift every time. Additionally, the F10 M5 doesn't need to be wound out super high with its torque happy turbo motor so it's hard to explain why it lost the way it did.

In the first race the GT500 seems to get a jump and the M5 gets demolished. The second race is much closer but the M5 loses again. What happened in the video is what happened but hard to figure out why the M5 with its 527 wheel horsepower stock got beat the way it did by what is said to be a stock 2011 GT500. Video is below.

but, but, but daddy... Gustav beat a tuned Z06 with an M5...lolololololol

I really don't think M5's trap 120... let's wait until an owner takes one to a real track.

119.5 is not 120 and rear cut exhaust is not stock... either way I want to see a normal person go and see what happens... and how do you explain a gt500 from 2011 with a 6 speed raping an M5 with a DCT? Something doesn't add up Sticky and you know it.

The M5 weighs in at 4300 lbs iirc and the mustang is around 3800ish?

A stock 2011 gt500 makes 550 hp and the M5 is advertised at 560 (crank). Makes sense, the lighter car wins?

It makes complete sense if the car is beat but not completely humiliated and ran away from... Aren't M5s built for top end and isn't that one of the fastest trannies anywhere? The GTR never has this issue with lighter and more powerful competitors... I just don't think the M5 is as fast as everyone claims it is

Others have mirrored those time completely stock and that is a rear section not adding much of anything. It's a 120 capable car in stock form, unless you think with 527 wheel horsepower it somehow isn't? 119.5 in the winter will be what? It's basically 120 just like I stated. That was on street tires too.

    I can't explain the GT500.

Why you are going by crank figures for two heavily underrated cars I have no clue. Plus the M5 is DCT, not manual.

I hate how many people have them too but the GT500 really isn't everywhere. It's such a sweet ride too.
