    • Pure Turbos Porsche 991.2 Carrera (T, S, GTS) 3.0 hybrid turbo upgrade results with Hydra tune + specs, and pricing

More and more Porsche 991.2 Carrera 9A2B6 3.0 owners are realizing how much potential is left on the table in their car. The base Carrera in particular with the smallest turbos in the 991.2 3.0 lineup meaning it has the most to gain from a hybrid setup such as Pure Turbos upgrade with larger wheels.

Pure Turbos 991.2 turbo upgrade retails at $4995 with a core exchange.

The turbine wheel inducer and exducer size is 52mm x 47mm respectively, with twin turbine seals. Pure Turbos does not use the smaller 50mm x 44mm Mazdaspeed3 / Volvo turbines (2005 technology, single turbine seal) like other turbo shops use. Also note the OEM turbine is twin seal.

These are the results on 93 octane pump fuel with Hydra Motor Works tuning:

The baseline is 341 rear wheel horsepower and 331 lb-ft of wheel torque.

Now Stage 2 is with the Hydra tune, intercoolers, headers, an exhaust, and air filter. They pick up just over 100 wheel horsepower reaching 457 with wheel torque going to 479 lb-ft. Solid numbers for the small OEM Carrera turbochargers.

Add the Pure Turbos hybrid turbochargers into the mix and output rises to 536 at the wheels and 485 lb-ft of torque at the wheels. You will notice the majority of the gains come past 4500 rpm where the factory turbochargers run out of steam. There is much, much more top end here which is exactly what the Carrera needs.

Hydra believes there is more in their tune but that they are limited by the MAP sensor:

Pure States there is much more room in the turbo as well.

The 991.2 Carrera again shows it is the best tuning value in the Porsche lineup.

Good improvement in spool-up with the bolt-ons and stock tune. Headers doing their thing. This is the first base Carrera I've seen with bolt-ons. The % power gain is lower than seen on the S and GTS dynos out there. Wonder what the stock tune ecu torque management is doing.... But damn, after a tune and then turbo upgrades, it's like a 57.5% power gain which would put the car at 583hp crank matching the 911 Turbo S.

It's honestly pretty easy to meet or exceeds the Turbo S.

Where things will get interesting now is finding fuel and internal limits and trying to catch the modded Turbos.

The one thing that actually amazes me is how good the stock tune is at torque limiting. With all the bolt-ons, you can see the car spools up significantly more quickly, but the ecu keeps the torque the same. Finally at upper rpms, there's some significant power gain but I bet that's still torque limited in the ecu. It just happens that torque limit is higher than what the stock parts can do at the upper rpms for the given boost levels.

So 500tq is really stressing the PDK? Interesting.

Joking aside it does state the max torque in the 911 tech paper thay someone posted awhile back.

That paper was wrong though as the torque of the gts stock exceeds the rating provided.

Sticky what happened to your turbo upgrade? Isn't this basically a direct competitor?

This thread is about Pure's new option. There are a few turbo upgrades for the platform.

I don't have 'my own' but I helped Tial with hardware testing of their upgrade over a year ago and developed software with Gintani to bundle.

There is overlap here but I mean it was inevitable that Pure would come to market and so will others. Just how it goes in the market.

It would be cool if we could get a Pure car and my car at the strip at my event for some comparisons or any other turbo upgraded 991.2's really.
