    • Porsche 991.2 9A2B6 3.0 Mustang dyno results for 911 Carrera, GIAC tuned Carrera T, Cobb tuned Carrera T, and X51 Powerkit 991.2 Carrera S

Nice to see multiple 991.2 Carrera models compared on the same dynamometer. In this case, the dyno type is a Mustang which of course reads conservatively. It is also a load bearing dyno and tuners prefer it for being able to simulate real world conditions.

There are four 991.2 3.0 models tested:

      - 2017 C2 Base: Stock tune, Fabspeed X-Pipe
      - 2018 Carrera T: GIAC Tune, Full-Kline exhaust w/headers and 200 cell cats
      - 2018 Carrera T: Cobb Stage 1 93 tune, Akrapovic slip-on exhaust
      - 2017 Carrera S: X51 Powerkit, cat-bypass

The first graph posted features the base C2 and the two tuned Carrera T's:

The Cobb tune offers the most power and torque with a nice gain from 2700-5600 rpm. The GIAC and Cobb tunes both level out toward redline as the base 991.2 3.0 turbos run out of steam. Still, the GIAC tune is pretty weak. Cobb is providing another 52 lb-ft at the wheels or in other words a ton more low end.

Both tunes show large gains over the factory tune though:

      Stock C2 - 337whp, 322 lb/ft wtq
      GIAC Carrera T - 393whp, 398 lb/ft wtq
      Cobb Carrera T - 404whp, 450 lb/ft wtq

Now, where things get interesting is when the X51 equipped Carrera S is added to the mix. The Cobb Carrera T almost matches the peak power but with more torque through the curve. Yes, a tuned Carrera will be faster than an X51 Carrera S or a stock 991.2 GTS:

      C2S X51 - 409whp, 398 lb/ft wtq
      GIAC Carrera T - 393whp, 398 lb/ft wtq
      Cobb Carrera T - 404whp, 450 lb/ft wtq

Of course, once you tune the X51 or GTS it regains the advantage as the turbochargers are larger and flow more.

Now, the GIAC and Cobb tunes are OTS. That means off the shelf. This is hardly the best tuning you can get for the motor.

Also, to put this power in perspective, the BoostAddict Project 991.2 Carrera is making over 200 wheel horsepower more on the same dyno type.

Thank you to @Aatish for the graphs.

One this that this really demonstrates is the quality of the Dyno Spectrum protune for the Carrera T

Stock baseline to the OTS Carrera T delta in this thread is 67WHP and 128TQ

Protune from Dyno Spectrum Carrera T delta 78WHP and 171TQ

14% more peak to peak HP and 25% more peak to peak torque than the OTS offering from Cobb

+1 Dyno Spectrum is at the top, however is that because its a custom dyno tune vs. an off the shelf tune?

A custom tune is a large part of it but also the Porsche guys at Dyno Spectrum have a ton of Porsche tuning experience and helped develop the Cobb OTS tune.

.... and the T weighs less. Lol
I posted a video of this on youtube so you can also hear the sounds. The cat delete is LOUD
I know these are just OTS maps, but even at these tq levels the rwd carreras are donut machines. I immediately had to switch to ps4s and just installed the dsc v3 today. Huge improvement in putting the power down on all surfaces and I highly recommend for the protune guys making big numbers.

so you would recommend an awd model then? To help get the power down...

Awd is option B. If you like RWD though, the dsc is nice

I wouldn't. 991.2 C2 is lighter, more fun to drive, more efficient from a roll, and narrow body is more aerodynamic.

The factory Continental tires are garbage.

I put on drag radials and had no trouble dead hooking on the street from first gear. Yes, I get it, most guys won't run Mickey Thompsons on the street.

But... you can run some R-compounds and hook up just fine. The GT2 RS is an example of this.

I think I won't have traction problems until I start topping 800 whp. I'm fine at ~600 right now and my Carrera is the strongest out there.
