    • 991.2 C2S vs. 991.2 GT3 on the dragstrip or tuned 3.0 liter twin turbo flat-6 vs. 4.0 liter naturally aspirated flat-6

We will get it out of the way now, the GT3 is not a straightline race car. That does not mean it is not fast as the naturally aspirated 4.0 liter flat-6 is a work of absolute art. Combine the high revving 9000 rpm motor with an efficient drivetrain and you have a potent recipe for acceleration.

Boost is a wonderful thing though and it just goes to show that if acceleration is your game, get any Carrera instead of a GT3 and pocket the change. All it takes is a tune and the GT3 has its hands full.

      Right Lane
      2018 991.2 C2S
      COBB Stage 2 93 octane
      Fabspeed cat delete
      Fabspeed turbo manifolds
      (Non-PSE)
      PDK
      Michelin Pilot Sport 4S

      Left lane
      2018 991.2 GT3
      JCR Exhaust center bypass
      PDK
      Michelin Pilot Cup 2

This illustrates turbocharged versus high revving naturally aspirated motor perfectly. The GT3 is harder to launch as it takes far more rpm to get it out of the hole quickly without bogging. Rev a bit too high and there is tire spin even with launch control helping out.

The low end torque of the tuned Carrera S means it can be lazier on the launch and still have plenty of torque to get it moving. Notice the 991.2 Carrera S has the faster 1/8 mile traps yet the GT3 has the faster 1/4 mile traps.

From a roll, the GT3 will take this race but from a stop the Carrera S has the advantage. If the Carrera S wants to eliminate any chance for the GT3 at all, it just needs to upgrade the turbos. The GT3 unfortunately can not just switch out the OEM turbos for hybrids or go to race gas and more boost. That is the nature of the game.

They should have switched sides on the last run, I say this because of the slight timing gear differences from personal experience at OSW.
