    • Finally: Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 and Boxster Spyder get a PDK transmission option

We all know the PDK outperforms the manual transmission. This is why the PDK was the only option for the 991.1 GT3 and it remains the only transmission option for the 991 generation 911 Turbo models. The manual is not only slower it also costs Porsche more money.

So why did Porsche go out of their way to equip the 718 GT4 and Spyder models with a manual only? To keep the cars from stepping on the toes of the big brother 911 of course.

Porsche continues to refuse to give the 718 a true GT3 derived powerplant but at least you can get a 4.0 liter 8k+ rpm flat-6 paired to a PDK finally.

Expect to be able to spec the PDK dual clutch later this year.

Makes sense if it's going in the GT4RS to offer it on the base car. Kind of makes it less cool though, whenever you see an older GT4 or GT3 you know it's a manual (and likely, not a poser).

Like the E39 M5 or Viper... manual only.
