    • New Porsche Turbo flat-6 horsepower record - Protomotive build 4.2 liter 997 GT2 on E85 puts down 1564 horsepower to the rear wheels

Well, this is a new horsepower for turbocharged Porsche flat-6 motors. The record previously stood at 1560 horsepower from a 996 Turbo tuned by Undercover Performance on a ProEFI ECU. That was also achieved with nitrous though and what makes the new record remarkable is it is boost only.

Thanks to a Protomotive Built 4.2 liter flat-6 motor and boost from a pair of Forced Performance 3794 turbochargers this 997 GT2 achieves 1564 horsepower and 1189 lb-ft of torque to the wheels. That is on E85 fuel and 33.3 psi of boost.

What would the numbers be on a Dynojet? We are not sure but probably a bit less. It is also conceivable that the car has more in it.

We do not have any more details and the owner is not sharing any photos. It seems he wants to let the car do the talking at 1/2 mile roll on events. It's not going to have any trouble getting its competition talking, that is for sure.

I think they're sandbagging, too. Rev this thing out and it has a couple hundred more HP left in it. This run was just enough to take the record and keep people guessing. I'd love to see how the GT2 handles the power though, they get squirrely at levels way lower than this.

Owner said he is keeping it at 7500 rpm.

Don't think this is the record. Pretty sure Anthony Taylor (kchme911) still has the WR with his EVOMS 997.1 with Xona Rotors, Air/Water IC, Syvecs, etc etc. Gonna see if I can find the numbers off his IG now. He's also using ethanol fuel (Ignite), and recently upgraded his fuel system.

That's it? That's all we have to go on? Some low res Instagram post?

Why are people using Instagram for stuff like this? Makes no sense. Where are all the details, build photos, etc.?

Majority of the initial build was done on 6SPO

It's so lame to set a world record and just do a low res cell phone pick of peak numbers.

Why not show the curve? I don't feel like being a detective right now as there are too many other stories to post but hopefully we'll get more details on it.

There's plenty of info on Anthony's 997. It holds the half mile porsche record at 219mph and that's on his old setup.
