    • The 2018/2019 Porsche 911 (991.2) GT3 RS will be PDK only, no manual transmission

You might be wondering why the GT3 RS is PDK only when the 991.2 GT3 has a manual option available. The reasoning is much the same as to why the new 991.2 GT2 RS is PDK only with no manual transmission option.

Laptimes. It is all about laptimes with RS cars and the PDK simply offers too large of a performance advantage:

The PDK has advantages on the track that canít be beaten by a manual, and the ones who prefer the manual transmission are not typically the track rats as we call them, but they are those who like to enjoy their cars on the normal public roads. I would say a GT2 RS with a manual option would have a four or five percent share of the market, we couldnít justify that.
The Porsche head of GT road car development is quite correct.

If you want a manual, get a standard 991.2 GT3.

Sport Auto just put up a video on their YouTube channel. Huracan Performante vs GT2 RS at Hockenheim.

        GT2 RS - 1:03.8
        Performante - 1:05.5

For the record Sport Auto’s previous Hockenheim Short lap record was with the Lotus 3-Eleven at 1:06.2 and 918 at 1:06.3. The GT2 RS is a f*cking monster.
