    • Auto Bild comparison between the 2018 Porsche 991.2 GT3 and 991.2 911 Turbo

This is always fun to see because while both vehicles are 911's they are completely different from one another. Porsche offers their sports car in several different flavors and should be commended for it.

Want a high revving naturally aspirated motor? No problem. What a turbocharged and all wheel drive monster? Not an issue.

The 911 Turbo is obviously the brute force champion here. It is offering another 40 horsepower and much more torque. The turbo motor and all wheel drive do come with a weight penalty of 263 pounds.

Really this comes down to finesse versus power. It shows on the track where the GT3 manages the slightly faster lap by eight hundredths of a second but the Turbo hits the higher top speed by three kph.

Ultimately, it is surprisingly close between the two.

Which is the one to have? The only correct answer is both.

So it seems the .2 GT3 is 100 lbs heavier than '15/.1 GT3. That's still amazing, 3251 lbs with full tank.

GT3 for me. The Turbo is awesome, but the GT3 is like nothing else on the road. Someday...

Tyre makes a difference here too I think.

It's a good point to raise for sure.

I'd pick GT3 over a Turbo S any day. But always believe Turbo S is faster around track on same tire.

GT3 has a slightly better chassis (but really close) and is lighter, but just cannot make up for the huge acceleration disadvantage, which is much more significant than numbers on paper show.

It really doesn't seem to be all that big.

The Turbo is faster, yes, but not by much.

I wish Porsche boosted the GT3 motor and made a low boost high compression and high revving model.

In real world conditions and an average driver, the turbo is faster by a big margin. The gt3 needs the right hands to achieve such times. It is also a more special car and less friendly than a turbo...

I was in between a 15 gt3 and a 15 turbo s when I switched cars a few months back. I went with the turbo s for the reasons above... plus I am a turbo freak... when I can own both then I will get a gt3 too... the car is simply amazing! But the turbo is most conditions will be faster, even with a lesser tire.

Here's some photos with the car in action at a local Autox with the local PCA chapter. The car is simply phenomenal.

I can't even imagine what it will do when I install my Cobb AP and an Inconel Kline full exhaust that I have on order! Click here to enlarge

        lol! thanks.

The new 991.2 3.0s will definitely pickup a lot of power with FBO. I don't think they will get close to a State 2 or higher turbo, but we will definitely see cars in the 10s easily. The new GTS should be a low 11 second car. I almost got one but I just could not pass on the opportunity to get a nice clean Turbo S.

The car will get to a full stage 4 with meth at some point. I am taking a few steps at the time to enjoy the car and of course the cost is quite substantial to modify these cars!
