    • Vivid VR Tuned Porsche 718 Cayman/Boxster 9A2B4 2.0 ECU flash tune dyno results - +27 whp

BoostAddict does not recommend Vivid Racing for tuning due to past issues but data is data. With the new Porsche ECU's being cracked various tuners are tackling the 9A2 engine platform including the four-cylinder 2.0 and 2.5 variants in the 718 Boxster and Cayman.

This is a standard 718 Cayman with the 2.0 liter turbo four-cylinder. Factory output is rated at 300 horsepower. A 263 wheel horsepower baseline on a Mustang is very healthy for 300 crank horsepower:

With the Vivid VR Tune this goes to 290 rwhp. Torque jumps up by 44 lb-ft at the wheels.

Good gains but the torque curve drops off hard when tuned. They look to be ramping in a lot of torque down low and the turbo quickly starts to die.

Hopefully we get results from other tuners soon to compare.

I’m looking forward to what COBB releases. I do believe that the 2.0 needs a larger turbo to really make goo power above what it is now. Since it is only a variant of the k04, it may not be as big as an is38 in the Golf R/ S3, but I can’t find much more information and I haven’t had time to crawl under my car yet.

It sure seems down the road, the encryption on future ecu’s is just going to be a losing venture trying to crack them. They are only going to get tougher and take longer to crack.

But then you have domestic cars that get tunes in the first year.

The Germans are pushing many of us toward Domestics.
