    • Pictures and specifications of the BoostAddict.com Stage 1 Porsche 991.2 9A2 3.0 turbocharger upgrade

As you likely know, BoostAddict.com is currently testing this upgrade out on the PorscheBoost Project 991.2 car. The turbos are being installed and tuned and this software testing will be an integral part of the turbo upgrade package BoostAddict.com will offer for the 991.2 Carrera, T, S, and GTS.

The upgrade utilizes the factory housings. This is commonly referred to as a hybrid upgrade.

      Here are factory turbo specs:

      9A2 3.0 991.2 Carrera

      Horsepower: 370
      Torque: 332 lb-ft
      Boost Pressure: 13.1 psi
      Turbos: 49mm compressor/45mm turbine

      9A2 3.0 991.2 Carrera S

      Horsepower: 420
      Torque: 369 lb-ft
      Boost Pressure: 16.0 psi
      Turbos: 51mm compressor/45mm turbine

      9A2 3.0 991.2 Carrera GTS

      Horsepower: 450
      Torque: 405 lb-ft
      Boost Pressure: 18.0 psi
      Turbos: 55mm compressor/48mm turbine

The BoostAddict.com Stage 1 upgrade goes to a 61mm compressor wheel and 50.5mm turbine. We will of course not reveal the wheel designs.

Here is what you can expect:

      Turbochargers:

New OEM CHRA. ( Bearings, shaft, thrust washers )
      Larger turbine wheel 50.5mm
      Larger 61mm Compressor wheel

Core OEM units (starting life from OEM 991.2 C2/4, C2S/4S, or GTS2/4 turbos) are then:

      - Disassembled and Inspected
      - Hot Ultrasonic Immersion Cleaned. Di Water rinse.
      - Shot peened to restore finish to new or better appearance to Compressor and Turbine housings.
      - 5 Axis turned / Machined.
      - Reassembled and clocked for installation.

What kind of power can you expect? Well, we will know when tuning wraps up.

What about the price? It depends on how involved the software is among other factors but expect something competitive with the factory X51 upgrade except offering much more bang for the buck.

As this upgrade requires the factory turbochargers a core exchange is required. Due to the limited number of cores in circulation those who get in line first will get their turbos first.

The turnaround time is only 24 hours but that is only for cores in stock. Feel free to PM or e-mail admin@boostaddict.com to put a deposit down.

On the turbos only, yes. I'll have to work out how long.

Oh, and to the overseas guys contacting. I'd prefer to do US cars for the first batch before figuring out international shipping and all that.

do you predict the need for extra cooling? My car after the tuning really stinks after some “spirited” drive, albeit followed by slow burbs drive, which doesn’t help turbo cooling...

I recommend intercoolers... they aren't mandatory though.

Upgrade the OEM intercoolers you mean?

Exactly. Or run meth. Or both as I plan to do.

If I run on meth I guess I wouldn’t care that much what I’m driving hahaha

jokes aside, there’s some aftermarket intercoolers for the .2 , I forgot the vendor. Using methanol is something I have no experience. 100% ethanol, yes.
One needs to be careful with the tendency of certain engines to self combustion...

Honesty, between traffic, daily commuting and winter tires, I could only do short bursts. When I arrive home, it smells as if I flogged the car on a track for half an hour.

now with a little more time I can appreciate how much power thereís available on this little engine. You will need to re-educate your right foot. I really recommend V2 control box to settle the rear from squat too much. Cup2 tires in proper weather. Itís eerie, with hardware upgrade must be fully awesome!

btw, Iím doing 12-13 mpg driving reasonably within the speed limits in town.

        AMS.

I'd wait for the design I intend to run which will be sold here...

I specced out a base Carrera with some mild options...I gave up after 15 minutes with so much being optional. Still with 15-20% down I was looking at 1500/month :-/

Not making that kinda scratch yet, guess I'll have to wait...I don't even want to buy another BMW unless it's a diesel for daily driver duties.

These will be awesome buys when the 992 hits.

It's expensive for sure but I see it as a discount, lighter, and more fun to drive Turbo.

Should be plenty used one for base 85-95k. If none right now, there will be some....

WOW, excellent job!!! I think we need a handy personal data logging tool badly. One can't carry a PIWIS all the time.

In the process of buying a used one for 90k right now. CPO. The used ones without certification can be found around 85 already. Well optioned. Low mileage. Its definitely possible.

I was skeptical myself on the price until I came across this forum and saw the capabilities. I initially went into the market for something to hold me over until I could afford a GT3; but I'm thinking this may be a long term keeper for me...

I must be an odd one. I like my 991.2 better than GT3 as I don't track. Drove GT3 (.1) a few times too. I do like the GT3 handling tho therefore I'm in the process of upgrading few parts to improve handling even tho there is really nothing wrong w our car for street usage. I still like it to be more nimble...

Congrats on your purchase. Post pics once you have her!!!
