    • 991.1 owners, time to STFU about your exhaust - BoostAddict.com Porsche 991.2 GT3 style exhaust preview

Ever read a forum filled with Porsche 991.1 owners? Spare yourself the trouble and just know every post is about how they won't upgrade to the 991.2 because of how amazing the 991.1 exhaust is compared to the new turbocharged engine sound.

Funny how they don't upgrade to the GT3 if it's really about exhaust sound quality, isn't it?

Well, those of us that aren't living in the past and actually have high performance Porsches will soon benefit from a new 991.2 exhaust option.

This is designed as a GT3 style exhaust with center exit tips and will apply to the 991.2 3.0 models as well as the 991.2 GT3 models.

It looks stunning. But how does it sound? Not bad:

You will notice in the picture above 3" inlets on the car. These inlets will replace the factory 1.9" and of course be sold here through BoostAddict.com.

More details (and parts for the 991.2) to come soon.

        Will do sir!

Can you fit an OEM GT3 diffuser insert into the regular bumper (both narrow and wide body)?

If not I am assuming youre developing a new diffuser to take advantage of the GT3 style center exit? Also, where do the smaller diameter pipes used in the standard "closed" exhaust mode reroute to?

I'm not sure if an OEM diffuser will work but there is a small diffuser piece that will go int to make it look seamless.

The good is it does sound decent. But from black smoke, it's most likely a cat bypass system. So it would be only fair to put it next to catless + stock catback and listen again.

Any plan to do a valved catback/muffler delete version that works with pse button?

This system looks to be running sport cats. Zoom in on the cat section, you can see the outside of the cat matrix.

To me it looks like its probably interchangeable with any of the non PSE style sport cat options available on the market.

This system looks as it has the "pulse/pressure equalization tube" over the exhaust exits which seems to be a common feature on GT3 exhausts.

The exhaust exits don't have the secondary smaller diameter piping for quieter operation with valves closed. I guess my confusion comes with the fact that the shown system has valves which appear to operate the primary exhaust line. Do they obstruct part of the gas path limit sound when closed?

Maybe as its just in the prototype version maybe they are just test fitting it?

The down pipes are interchangeable out line with the standard exhaust. ( PSE cars will need standard DPs, as they are different )

The Exhaust will work with the stock Cat sections and not modify the any emissions sensitive parts.

The valves are controlled by the ECU and OEM console switch. If your car did not come with the PSE option, the system will add all the OEM components and you will need to code the center console with the Porsche tool. We are finishing the research needed, and will share this procedure.

It is compatible with the GT3, GT3RS, Carrera ( all ).

        operating principle :
Full open the valves have no restriction ( Loud path ) , Closed ( vacuum to actuator ) attenuate by restriction and the space behind the turbo, to the back of the valve orifice and space in the anti drones, is the damping volume.
The ECU opens up the valves under load and RPM.

We are testing at the moment :1 setting the orifice size to limit the restriction when in part throttle. 2 length of anti drone.

The system sounds great, the goal is to be able to carry a conversation or enjoy quiet music in the car, but also be able to switch to full open when you wish.
