    • 9-second 911 Turbos duking it out - AIM1000 997.1 6-speed vs. VTG turbo upgraded 991.1 Turbo S

This is an interesting matchup between two 9-second 911 Turbos. On one side you have a 997.1 Turbo with a built motor making a lot of power. It traps 160 in the 1/4 mile so it is no joke but the transmission is a 6-speed manual.

Why does that matter? Because they are going from a stop which means the 991.1 Turbo S and its PDK dual clutch have a huge advantage. There is simply no way the manual 997.1 will match the 1-2 or 2-3 shift putting it at a disadvantage until higher speeds.

The 991.1 Turbo S traps 144 and 16 miles per hour is a huge power disadvantage but this just goes to show how big of an advantage shift speed is namely from a stop. The 991.1 simply offers a far more efficient drivetrain.

This comes down to raw muscle versus technology and previous matchups had the 991.1 come out on top.

This time around? The 997.1 launches well and manges to quickly close the gap off the line and pull.

Look at the 997.1 GPS figures:

      Very impressive.

The 991.1 simply needs more power to compete beyond the first couple of gears.

Awesome video, we need you to film something like this with your car vs a tune only 991 turbo...

What is the estimated whp on each? Sorry im not sure what AIM1000 means, is that 1000 crank hp? 1000whp?

What are stock frame VTG turbos with 68mm compressor on FBO 991's putting down? I would assume at least around 700whp if he's hitting 9.7 @144mph**

**Off Topic, but worth noting, APR RS3 with upgraded stock frame turbo ran 9.85 @ 142.9mph

        It's trapping 160 with a manual so it's close to 1000 whp.

Deep into the 700's would be my guess. Here's one doing 747 on a Mustang: https://www.porscheboost.com/content...gine-internals

That launch was epic! I guess being able to spin on the street allowed the aggressive launch.

Joking aside, the 997.1 with race gas should be a 8 sec car if he could master his shifting skill and right tires?

It's enough mile per hour to get there...

great video's I think the 997.1 is putting down over 1,100whp depending on what fuel its running.

that Silver car is the record holder, saying it "should go 8" is subjective considering.

AIM1000 means AIM performance in NJ.

-not the same 991- but still an AIM car

It's objective based on the MPH.

It can break into the 8's with that level of power.

I'm not saying it's not impressive just that the power level can propel it even quicker.

Arent you the one that argued a 1.7 60ft would result in a higher trap speed?

        Depending on the situation.

You see improvement in trap with slight improvement in 60 foot providing you aren't spinning. If you are spinning and seeing a 2.X you have an inflated trap speed.

Not really hard to grasp. Not really seeing what you're arguing against here either. Mile per hour tells you roughly what elapsed time you can reach with that amount of power.
